What is Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea refers to a condition defined by cyclic obstruction of airway while sleeping. This repetitive cycle (5 times in one hour and each lasting 10 seconds) leads to decreased oxygen levels which kicks in a compensatory actions of increased heart rate and blood pressure along with change in brain activity, ultimately induces taking a large gasp for air and sleep disruption.

Why is it important to treat Sleep Apnea?

Sleep Apnea leads to poor quality of sleep and therefore leads to chronic fatigue, irritability and poor performance. If left untreated, chronic and repetitive nature of sleep apnea contributes systemic health problems.

What types of treatment are available for sleep apnea?

Weight loss of 10-15 lbs. along with oral appliance designed to opening the airways while you sleep. In severe cases CPAP machine or surgery may be recommended.
